Born in Santa Rosa in 1880, Walter Nagle went to work in a local store when he was fourteen. He was with the Santa Rosa Bank for two years, then with th eColumbian Banking Company, of San Francisco, for five more. After playing with several bush-league ball clubs, he joined the Los Angeles Angels of the Pacific Coast League in 1905. He was sold to Pittsburgh in 1911, and to the Boston Red Sox the same year. An injury derailed his major league career, and he returned to Los Angeles the latter part of 1912. Back in Santa Rosa in 1914, Walter Nagle was active in the Camber of Commerce, in the Elks Lodge, and was elected County Clerk of Sonoma County in 1934, serving for 16 years.
