Pat Meissner Bean

Pat Bean spent her young years in Vallejo where her dad worked in the shipyard during World War II. She moved to Healdsburg in 1946, graduating from Healdsburg High in 1956. Pat was editor of the Healdsburg High School newspaper, the Hound's Bark, and co-editor of First Leaves, a Santa Rosa Junior College literary book of short stories. She met her husband, Bill Bean, at the age of nine and they married in 1961. Pat graduated from San Francisco State University with a teaching degree. Besides writing and reading best sellers, Pat enjoys making banners for her church and singing in the choir. In 2011, she joined the Healdsburg Senior Writing Project where she authored her memoir of growing up in 1950s Healdsburg.
